Purpose of the Code of Ethical Conduct

The purpose of the New York University Code of Ethical Conduct is to highlight the essential elements of an ethical and responsible environment in which the central educational goals of the University can be met effectively and efficiently.

Statement of General Principles

The Code of Ethical Conduct sets forth the following twelve principles to which we adhere:

1. Adherence to high ethical standards

2. Respect for and compliance with the law

3. Compliance with all contractual and grant terms and conditions

4. Support of University’s goals and avoidance of conflicts of interest

5. Maintenance of high standards of academic integrity

6. Respect for the rights and dignity of others

7. Striving to attain high standards of patient care

8. Maintenance and preservation of accurate records

9. Conducting business practices with honesty and integrity

10. Concern for health and safety, respecting the environment

11. Reporting suspected violations of the code; enforcement of the code

12. Promise of no retaliation
